Zhongshan 中山區, Taipei

4/27/2011 Taiwan Explorer
1. Introduction

• Known for: Parks, banks
• Population: 227,000 (2012, source)
• Wade-Giles: Chung-shan
• Pinyin: Zhōngshān
• Romaji: Maruyama (圓山)
• Map: My map of Zhongshan

Zhongshan 中山區 is one of the central districts in Taipei, located between Datong and Songshan. It's district with a chessboard layout, with wide avenues and lots of newer buildings, making it one of the districts, that are more expensive to live in. The southern part a mix of business and residential, while the northern part, that stretches over the Keelung river and touches the Yangminshan Mountain, is much more colorful. It has parks and recreational areas, as well as big shopping malls. Here are the must see buildings and parts of Zhongshan (my personal recommendations): Miramar Entertainment Park, Zhongshan MRT Area, The Grand Hotel and National Revolutionary Martyrs' Shrine..
