Songshan 松山區, Taipei

• Known for: airport
• Population: 211,000 (2012, source)
• Wade-Giles: Sung-shan
• Pinyin: Sōngshān
• Romaji: Matsuyama
• Map: My map of Songshan

Songshan 松山區 is one of Taipei's central districts, located in its western part. In a way, it's quite similar to the neighboring Zhongshan District, but there's a smaller older part close to Raohe Streeet and Keelung River, that is very different and unique. This part used to be called Matsuyama village during Japanese times in Taiwan and the Kanji pronounced in Chinese is Songshan. Songshan is today home to Songshan Airport. Here are the must see buildings and parts of Songshan (my personal recommendations): Raohe Street Night Market, Songshan Tobacco Factory and Living Mall.
